i am a community first responder for my local area. for those who havnt heared of us, we work along side the ambulance service and attend life threatning calls such as cardiac arrests, heart attacks, fitting, traumatic injuries etc. we do not get paid we are volunteers. we have to raise the money ourself to purchase lifesaving equipment such as defibrillator (the machine that shocks the heart back to rhythm) kit bag ect.
i am looking for help with ideas of how to raise money for our team? any suggestions would be much appreciated thanxs

How much are we talking? A few grand? Why not create a 'shopping list', and invite local businesses to sponsor some things on the list, then create a 'Thank you' poster for everyone to put in their windows so the companies can show off their generosity.0

yes were talking at least a few grand, we need 2 defibrillators for the team which are around £800 each, and the rest of the money will go towards our uniforms, kit bage etc. we have started a 'shopping list' and will hopefully be handed out this week, thankyou for your reply0 -

eventhough its voluntary, we work for the NHS therefor covered by them. we respond in our own vehicles, and drive to the calls under normal road conditions, no blue lights, speeding etc. we have a mobile phone thats supplied by the ambulance service & a text is generated with all the information that's needed from the computer system in control whilst the call is being taken0 -

if you can find a suitable area, why not try a car boot sale, they are popular. a one off does not need any licences etc.0 -

You are my hero. Seriously, so much respect to you.0 -
Do you have a national 'umbrella' organisation? If so, ask them for advice on fundraising ...Signature removed for peace of mind0

Charity bag packing in supermarkets - I've seen that raise well over £1000 in a weekend in a fairly small store but it does take a lot of volunteers. When I worked in M&S it seemed ideal as people don't do massive shops (packing a Tesco shop would take forever!) so there is less packing and more customers and everyone seemed to put 50p or £1 in the pot.
Charity pots - our charity pot on the counter raises £10 a month consistently, if you can get 10 busy shops on board you could tick over at £100 a month to help you keep equipment up to date.
I bet first aid and lifesaving demos at all the school fetes and summer fayres would go down well, just ask to be able to rattle the collection tin in return.
Good luck it is an amazing thing you are doing.0 -
thankyou all for your replies, i will put all ideas mentioned forward to the committee & hopefully we will raise lots of £££ soon!0

Hey,
Why not think about approaching you local St John Ambulance unit? In london we train all the CFRs provide them with kit & uniform.
Im not sure what SJA wales is like but if its anything like us we have loads of defibs/O2 cylinders sitting unused in the various units which could be availible for CFRs?
Otherwise try sponsorship events - if you devolve money making to other individuals then you always get more - running a ticketed event for £30 each is a big ask, but asking a runner to raise £30 is almost nothing?
A sponsored cahrity event would also help highlight you guy's great work in you area0
