Dropped iphone in water, working fine - should I repair?
Last night I knocked my iphone from the work surface into the bath!
Thankfully it was in it's leather case and it was working but when making or receiving calls I couldn't hear anything.
A quick google advised me to put it in a bag of rice and put it in the airing cupboard overnight and this seems to have fixed it - no problem whatsoever today!
I have phone insurance which covers water damage but I have to report a fault or accident within 48 hours of it happening.
So my question, would you report it even though it is working great incase something is wrong that hasn't happened yet (pay the excess etc) or just hope the rice sorted it!!!!! :T

I'd report that to be honest, although it appears you might have had a lucky escape, there is a strong possibility that a fault may occur later down the line.0

You can reprt it if you want, but it won't make any odds because liquid damage isn't covered under warranty.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0

This is about the insurance and has nothing to do with the warranty.KillerWatt wrote: »You can reprt it if you want, but it won't make any odds because liquid damage isn't covered under warranty.
Warranties never cover accidental damage, but many insurances do cover this, including liquid damage.0 -
I'd report it as the damage has been done and the warranty is now invalid and the moisture sensor in the headphone socket will show that it has been dropped in water. The phone's circuit board will also start to corrode so you may well get more problems later on.0

Contact your insurance. You could go to use it a couple of days from now and find it is as dead as a dodo.0

Thanks I will report it.
Yes it is insurance which covers up to £2000 of repairs due to water damage. It is actually over a year old so out of Apple warranty anyway.
