EON increasing direct debit

Hi jmcdyre
Also, I can confirm, we don't give discount on final bills following a change of supplier.
However, if the change completes after the contract end date, you'll miss the cancellation charge and receive all of the discount applicable to Saveonline 2 even if part of this falls within the final bill. This is because you will have completed the full term of the contract.

Ok so if I change asap after 31st Aug the final bill generated will be discounted up to 31st Aug, and not for anything after?
Given that discounts tend to be quite big isn't that a penalty for leaving under a different guise?
If I stayed with EON (unlikely if I understand these shady practices correctly) would I continue to receive discounts on my bills for usage after 31st Aug?
Really though, why must this be so complicated? I'm also fairly sure that this penalty (or lack of discounts) for leaving was not factored into my original quote at uswitch.0 -

Sorry Malc's out the office at the mo, hope you don't mind if I reply.Ok so if I change asap after 31st Aug the final bill generated will be discounted up to 31st Aug, and not for anything after?
That's correct, you will receive all your SaveOnline 2 discounts up to 31st August, but no discounts on the final bill.Given that discounts tend to be quite big isn't that a penalty for leaving under a different guise?

The fact that E.ON don't give discounts on final bills has been discussed before on the forum, this is stated in the T&C's sent with the welcome pack.

OK, still quite a shady practice though, will certainly steer clear in future.
However, just to check...to avoid losing much discount I would have to move as quickly as possible. Presumably then I would need to start the process of leaving a few weeks before?0 -

Changing supplier normally takes between 4-6 weeks, so you may want to switch working with this timeframe.

Saveonline 2 ends on 31 August 2011. If a change of supplier completes before this date, there's a £30 cancellation fee for Dual Fuel customers (£10 for electric only).
Are you sure about this?
Both uswitch and enegyhelpline mention nothing about a cancellation fee for this tariff.

Neither does your own website mention it in the T&Cs.

Hi jem16,
Your spot on, so sorry about that, the cancellation fee started at SaveOnline 3 ect.
Thank you for pointing it out, Malc will edit the post so it's not confusing for others.

That's just the thing I did, I had the originally provided figures and the YTD figures which showed that to go over I would have to use more energy over summer than in winter.
Yes but you are working August to August. Eon's annual review is always Spring and is clearly set out on their website.
http://www.eonenergy.com/NR/rdonlyres/143C45C7-D919-42AF-8677-D05B91EED4F4/0/DD_Policy_web1.pdf?The really annoying thing is that they agreed with my argument but couldn't do anything about it as they are working to zero balance by May 2012 on usage figures well below what I supplied!
As I said their policy is a Spring review and they are in the dark as to your usgae figures for May to May. Have you tried discussing what you have used over a year with your previous supplier - they did that with me quite happily.
Eon have been good with figures as far as I'm concerned and it's usually been correct. Some companies won't even entertain changing it if you don't agree with it. Most all go for the Spring review as well.Just trying to find out what charges (if any) for leaving before August. Sure I read somewhere that you lose discounts on final bill....
As said it's the discounts on the final bill. However if you phone up and give a meter reading and ask for a bill shortly before the switch goes through you should be fine.0 -
yeah I did try - I have 5 years worth of usage data, woman just said that they can't base it on that they need to see for themselves.
The link you posted has it all in black and white really, but still think it's sh*t lol0
