Richer Sounds free delivery for blind/disabled people

Richer Sounds might have done this for ages but I've just noticed and I thought they deserved credit for thinking about customers who are blind or have disabilities.
Blind, partially sighted and disabled customers who prefer to order from https://www.richersounds.com rather than negotiate the high street to visit a store in person (which can be particularly tricky in the run-up to Christmas) get their delivery charges refunded.
Buy online and then contact webaftersales@richersounds.com to arrange the refund of your delivery charge.
I think the reason you have to pay it up-front and then maybe provide proof of eligibility is to discourage people who aren't entitled to claim.
Fair play to Richer Sounds for doing this.

Let's hope people don't expolit it so that those who genuinely need it don't end up losing out.0

Being partially sighted I would urge people NOT TO ABUSE THIS in the same manner I have seen people abuse other things like 5quid cd wow vouchers etc. If loads of people claim this then Richer Sounds (who are not a multinational corporate) will simply shut it down.
Good on you Richer Sounds I wish more companies were as thoughtful as I personally find shopping a nightmare especially in the run up to Xmas. I personally will try to avoid the high street now till after the new year sales.

I love giving my money to Richer Sounds they are one of my favourite retailers. Every time you leave one of their stores you always feel you have a value for money bargain.
Good on them for offering this.0 -
I think the idea is that they check whether you're entitled to it - maybe through some sort of certificate you might have.
Regardless, I would also like to urge people not to make a false claim because as the poster above said, it would be sad to see this offer shut down.
Anyone who makes a false claim could lead to the offer being closed and money being taken from the pockets of those who are entitled to it.0 -
Just to clarify there is no certificate you might have and their is no such thing as registered disabled either.
This doesnt stop certain people including a certain travel company refusing to accept a person informing them they were disabled without a "number you know, on the register",
Would that be the same sort of number you got at Auschwitz for being different?0 -
Pardon my ignorance. I didn't phrase my post particularly well because I was in a rush to put the information up there.
My thinking was that if people receive the Disability Living Allowance, for example, perhaps there is some kind of document or reference number that Richer Sounds might be asking for to prove eligibility for the delivery charge refund.
It might just be refunded on the basis of the customer's word, of course, and if that's the case then I really hope other people don't claim it falsely.0 -
I would suspect that this falls foul of the variety of discrimination acts operating in this country.
Whilst a great idea, I'd like to see Richer Sounds justify a charge to some people and no charge to others, based purely on their physical state - great marketing concept, poor from a legal standpoint. If ordering online how does one's physical state affect the purchase?.
I more suspect that this is a gimmick to attract a sector of the market not normally associated into visitng their website. But fair play to them for this offering. Not knocking this, just a bit cynical in my old age!.Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0 -
Well done to RS for this, BUT:
Hmmm - I know a few 'partially sighted' people (thorough voluntry work) who couldn't use a computer - does the Richer Sounds webstie come in braille... I suspect gimmick too!
