Krisflyer Redepemtion Waitlist (Singapore Airlines)

I'm going to be relocating back to the UK from Australia in late August. I'm planning on flying Sydney-Singapore-London on 27 August, at which point I'll be 25 weeks pregnant.
Looking online at the redemption booking system, it would seem that all the "Saver" fares for the Singapore-London leg of the trip are on a waitlist basis (I don't have enough points for the "standard" fare). I've struggled to get through to the call centre today so I'm wondering if anyone can help with what this actually means in practice. I don't want to get stuck in Singapore, in between properties and countries at 5 months pregnant!
If it means waiting a day or so at the airport, that's fine - I've got people I can visit in Singapore and would gladly get a hotel for a couple of nights... Is that essentially what I would do - ie wait at the airport until my flight is confirmed? Or does it not quite work like that?
I'll try calling the redepmtion reservations people again too, but any info/advice you can provide in the meantime would be much appreciated.
Thanks, BM

If you are on the waitlist it means you need someone ahead to cancel their Krisflyer reservation and since they go live 11 months before travel you will be lucky to get a cancellation for that date at the end of the summer holidays. It is not as simple as waiting a few days, at that point in August there will be waitlists for every day for award seats, of which there are few on SQ anyway. I would contact your local SQ agency and see how many there are ahead of you on the list and see what the consequences are.0
