New PAYG smartphones start from under £100
If you cannot afford a new smartphone and can survive without the internet, then basic phones start from 1p+£10 at e2save and mobiles.co.uk. £6-7 cashback through TCB. Use the phone with Orange sim and sell the unwanted new sim with the credit for £6-8 on e-bay.

Loads of other basic phones starting from £5+£10 at the above and CPW, OSPS.0 -
When this happened to me a few years back, I called my mobile operator who offered to put a ban on the number so no one could use it and also offered me a refurbished handset for £50. The handset was no match for what I had lost but it wasn't rock bottom and didn't have any technical issues, maybe ask Orange if they offer anything similar?0

My iphone 4 got stolen last night
and I still have 12 months left of my 24 month contract with Orange. I didn't have any insurance (I've never once lost or damaged a phone in 13 years) and I also don't have contents insurance (silly I know but I don't have anything worth stealing) and now I dont know what to do. I've had a look at the terms and conditions and it seems that orange recently changed this but it's already come into force so it's too late for me to terminate my contract on that basis. I spoke to orange and it'll cost £418 for me to get a new phone and it's not possible for me to downgrade phone with orange either. Any help or ideas will be much appreciated.
Thank you.
Sorry for your loss
Any recent change will do nothing in these circumstances. Loss of the phone has never been grounds to cancel the contrct.0 -
Telephone call:
Me: Hi is that Lloyds Black Horse car Finance
Them: Yes
Me: Hi well my car got stolen last night and it wasnt insured, and I know that I am only a few months into my finance agreement with you but can I cancel it and we will forget about the money?
Then: No'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

Hope they have quickly put a bar on calls. There is another thread on this board regarding a £192 bill for calls to Morocco..0

It's a sucky situation. There's two things you can do.
1. You're halfway through a 24 month contract. So you could get Orange to issue a replacement SIM and then use this in an alternative phone. Then, when your contract is coming to an end, you may be able to upgrade to iPhone 5 (assuming this is out by then, word on the ground says September so you should be ok). Or you can cancel your contract when it comes to an end. It's not an ideal situation and doesn't mean you'll have an iPhone 4 soon.
2. You might not have any dedicated phone insurance or personal possession insurance. However, if you've a credit card or bank account, you *may* have phone insurance already included as part of the package. It's a long shot but it's worth checking.
Either way, make sure the original SIM and the phone have been blocked by the network.
The other long, long shot is if you downloaded the Find my iPhone app before losing your phone - you can then log into MobileMe and you might be able to find your phone.0
