Its just nuts how some people are on the road and my daughter was sat in the passenger seat as well. If I had been obstructive and holding him up, I could maybe understand his language but I wasnt.

Don't worry about it, just drive as you are doing.

Many road users are just idiots who think they are excellent drivers due to the amount of time they have spent on the roads since passing their test. Unfortunately, complacency sets in and bad driving habits increase to the point where they are a liability to themselves and others.

Actually, this is a good reason to introduce retests every 5 years.

I think you should ditch them. As you say red rag to a bull. Won't make bad drivers drive well round you and good drivers will drive well around you anyway.

Oh right, I was just wondering how you managed to work out what he was saying. I take great offence when people do things like that to me. Doesn't dent my confidence though - I am assured of being a much better driver than everyone else. :p You should be a passenger in my car - I never shut up, I see half the fun of driving as ranting about how no one else can drive. My friends get rather fed up with me, even my driving instructor 'advised' me not to do so on my test. :p
And I never used Ps, mainly because I could barely get my Ls to stay on the bloody car so I wasn't messing around any longer than I had to.

I personally feel that seven months on from passing your test is pretty excessive to still be driving around with P plates stuck to your car. I'd honestly just throw the things in the bin and just drive as you wish without feeling the need to 'warn' other road users of your lack of confidence.

You're just as qualified as them to be driving, I think you should remember that and not feel that it's necessary to essentially apologise to others by displaying these plates simply because you wish to drive more slowly than them.

We all learn at different rates.
I had a full car & bike licence within 5 weeks of turning 17, but that doesn't mean the next person will take to driving as readily as I did.

Harsh words from Outpost but containing more than a grain of truth. I have been driving for over 40 years, but guessing I would have trouble convincing an examiner to pass me. Too many bad habits .

Don't misunderstand me, I don't mean to be harsh or want to come across as being offensive to the OP because this couldn't be further from my intention. I'm trying to say 'You've just as much right to drive on the roads as everyone else at the speed you wish, so don't feel the need to single yourself out'.

Spot on advice, there's no point in driving outside of your comfort zone because if you do then that is when it all goes wrong.

P plates, who's bright idea were they??
If you have passed, you have passed, and should have the knowledge/confidence to drive on the road (or you would not have passed, no?)
I remember hearing last year about a 6th form near me that recommended all students take the p plates off their cars as they had a rather high number of students have people slamming the brakes on in front of them. They are just a target for insurance fraudsters.
    Ditch them.
