im just doing a trail run to add together a few figures for when i do my accounts,, but i don't want to add say 200 items and then it crashes or i lose it,,, so i was say putting money in say column C keeping it simple 25,00+25,00 ,, then pressing the side ways M ive tried =c2+c3 and all the other options,, the first time i try it after closing down it will add it up ,, but then say i tried say collum E it would not add this up??spent over an hour trying then came here realy only need to add up and print it off ,, so simplest possible spreed sheet will be well sufficient thanks Carl0

All formulas in Excel must start with an = symbol
If you want to add the value of two cells (ie. c1 and c2) with the answer in d3, you would enter the formula in d3 as such
=sum(c1+c2)

THANKS everyone for the help i have now found i was using a comma instead of a full stop IE 20.25 NOT 20,25 its now working.. its rounding numbers down IE 70.60 becomes 70.6 which look strange but its correct so may be i should leave well alone... so simple but took us hours0

Decimal places, it's rounding as it's only set to one decimal place, more than one will show the hundredth value.Owner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them
