Somehow I don't think envelopes are the OP's biggest barrier to workI was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Hi Folks
Thanks for your replies so far.
I have got the envelopes sorted now. Can someone please advice where I could buy cheap 1st class stamps.
I was going to try ebay, but some people say that there are a few scams going round these days on ebay, regarding stamps.
Thanks in advance.0 -
Cheap first class stamps?
Any cheap first class stamp wll be a scam - they are ones that have escaped a post mark so get reused. This is actually against the law, so you are asking people to advise you how to break the law.
Just buy your stamps from the Post Office. There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0 -
Why not buy second class and have done with?
If you belong to Costco you can buy slightly cheaper stamps. Superdrug also do discounts occasionally.Make £2025 in 2025

I take it that the C5 sized envelope would be better than A4? The only problem is that I would need to get address labels done from somewhere. Is anybody aware of any cheap places that I could have them done?Assuming you have a printer, the C5 size envelopes should go thru, put them thru from the manual feed tray, one at a time.Alternatively buy A4 sheets of address labels and put those thru your printer - just ask if you need help with the layout.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Hi Folks
I am in the process of buying some A4 sized envelopes to send out job applications i.e. a cover letter and cv.
Would it be better if I buy A4 sized envelopes for this, so that I don't have to fold the letter & cv? If so, do you recommend that I buy ones with 'windows', so that I don't have to put a separate address label on? How would I work out the measurements? i.e. making sure that the address shows through the window envelope?
Finally, do you know of any good websites which sell cheap envelopes?
Thanks in advance.
For a moment, I thought this was a very clever micky take post; then, to my horror, I realised it was a genuine question.
Anyway, now that you're sorted out the Great Envelope Issue, would you like to start a new thread on what pen to use?0 -
Most places won't even take paper applications any more (unless they require a thick application form but usually then they provide an envelope). I think I have only seen a few lately that will accept them but even they prefer to receive them by email.0

I haven't done a paper application in years, although when I did I used large envelopes with windows, but then I have been applying for relatively senior positions. This could get expensive, but on the other hand if you are not applying for 1000s of jobs it's fine. It's not necessarily true that all applicants are opened by admin - again this will vary enormously from company to company. I think I have only had one job where I didn't open my own post.
As for not being able to type a letter and get the address in the window part of the envelope - I hope the job doesn't require you to be able to use a computer to a basic level;)0 -
This board is sometimes very worrying....0
