help sky have mess up

i am migrating from nildram to sky and got up this morning to no broadband called nildram they said they have not got our account any more so called sky they told me that i had to wait for their modem to arrive they could nothing and i could not use my own modem which i think is untrue anyone else have this problem i have to go now will check back later:eek:

Hi Settler,

Sky are very unusual in that they lock their network to a router.

Some suppliers do this the other way around where they won't allow their routers to be used on any other network...This is referred to as network locking a router.

What Sky have done is they've router locked their network.

i thought it was because sky use an LLU network, and that way, all end user's regular ADSL modem's can only suport a maximum of 8MB, and since LLU can go up to 24MB atm, many people close to the exchange would have a moan that hey are getting slow speeds.... and/or, they will not get a connection at all, as the modem might not be able to cope.

Sky may lock their network, but the above is more of the reason.
