There's a card, in the job centre, with your signature and a date on it. I don't see any way you could get an adverse decision on this

That's what I was thinking, unless that woman threw it in the bin.

Don't these cards have lots of weeks on? Either way, it either exists or it doesn't both are in your favour

Yep but as it was a rapid reclaim I got a new book and so it was the first time I had signed it. Easy to 'accidentally throw out'.

advisors can sign on for you if you have a valid reason for not being able to make it, my last sign on date before i got my job i was on a course so the advisor signed for me (this was about 4 days before i was due to sign), however my advisor was great, it could be the lady that was supposed to sign for you just isn't very organised.

I still think you'll be okay, were I the DM I would be interrogating the adviser.

  • I remember one time, I was 18 and my dad was giving me a lift to sign on... his car broke down and i ran as fast as my little legs could carry me, literally dying as i went through the JC doors, 5 mins late, the snotty cow told me to "run faster".

    lol.

Bad wording on my part. The law would not support such a thing.

have you any idea how many people give excuses why they couldnt/cant sign on? how are the advisors supposed to distinguish between genuine reasons and peole that are just 'trying it on'?

the JC+ where my daughter works, is losing 31 staff members at the end of this month........all job centres are shedding staff. so expect it to get worse!

before you start accusing them of being 'snotty' ( though undoubtedly some are!), just remember, you cant expect them to remember every aspect of your claim....they deal with hundreds of people who are claiming, your claim is all you have to worry about!

    [/B]

The fact I went in and asked two days in advance of my sign on date and had documentary evidence of why I wouldn't be in London distinguishes me from those who are just 'trying it on'.

I'm going to the job centre now. Will update here when I get home.
