This sounds daft, but is there any concern about food that can be eaten without risking greasy finger marks on the books? Or do you do the refreshments after/before the business starts?
Oh good grief, I'm turning into my dad. He would never let us look at the daily paper until we'd shown him that our hands weren't greasy :eek: .I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

:T Thanks.......any ideas are welcome as I cater for 3 vegetarians, a diabetic, someone who can't eat salt (begins with a C but can't remember proper word), a hindi (so no pork), a dairy allergy sufferer and then theres 3 of us who eat anything! :rotfl:

Right, well in that case I'd get or make a couple of quiches and cut them into wedges, plus a salad, a couple of french sticks, butter, pickled onions and/or Branston, and a few difference cheeses. Something for everyone!

It's the "Time Travellers Wife" this time - we take it turns to choose the book and because we're quite an odd bunch we choose a film as well in case you don't feel like reading that month - so this time it was "A Canterbury Tale"."all endings are also beginnings. What about spiced chick peas btw? toss in alittle olive oil and spices of your choice-cumin and coriander work well, and fry until browned and a bit crispy.
I was in a book club once but only managed to finish one book-Memoirs of a GeishaAll the others were just so depressing.I think the film alternative would suit me better

Cheesy biscuits
Crush 2 x 25g packets of ready salted crisps in a bowl. Add 3.5oz of grated cheese and 2.5oz of plain flour. Melt 2.5oz of butter or marg with a tsp of mustard and pour on to the crisp mix. Wodge it all together and then put walnut sized balls on a baking sheet and flatten them. Bake at about 180c for about 10 mins or until golden. Cool on a rack. Nice warm or cold but very addictive“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

I've rashly offered to contribute food for a friend's wedding party - and they've asked me to bring 'savoury nibbles'. Someone else is cooking a feta/tomato/rosemary tart and the main dish will be fish. I'd be grateful for any suggestions of things to go with this that are not too expensive to make or tricky to transport. Ideally it should feed a good 60 people.
