ok, u brainy person, it works after disabling norton! Thnx a million. Now since you know alot, can you also advise me on how to make my laptop run faster....it wasnt as slow as this but now it takes ages to open anything.

Don't leave Norton disabled, you just have to go into the program control section & make sure that AVG is an allowed program.

As far as speeding up your laptop, it probably just needs a bit of housekeeping. Start by uninstalling any old programs you don't use anymore. Then download a free program called CCleaner from https://www.ccleaner.com - install & run the main 'Cleaner' part of it to remove old temporary files & suchlike. Scan your system with Norton and AVG to make sure it's totally clean. Then you could probably do with defragmenting the drive - Start/Programs/Accessories/System tools/disk defragmenter - that'll take a little while. Next, re-run CCleaner, but this time run the 'issues' tool & let it fix anything it finds - accept the option to back-up before deletion. This should put you well on the way to speeding it up.

thnx a million. Can i also ask u one more thing....i download stuff alot with rapidshare....but i need a premium account to get it done faster etc..is there any other way?

Ah, you got me there - sorry I know v. little about fileshare progs etc. - I just tend to concentrate on clearing up after them.
