Vent: Too much noise!

I live in a maisonette above a shopping area.
Monday to Saturday it can get a bit rowdy out there in the afternoons, but that's fine. Just a few people shouting.
However, today I was woken up by some crappy bass, which I figured was one of the neighbours. Ok, it was midday, but my husband works late, so consequently at 4am I'm usually only just cooking dinner.
However, when I went to figure out who was playing the music, it's a church group preaching in the shopping centre. There's only one shop open, and the place is dead except for these preachers. The bass is still going on, and this is with all my windows closed.
I also hate people preaching in public. I have my faith and it's my own, people should not be forcing their views on others!
What can I do?!
Surely they're not supposed to be making so much noise in what is also a residential area.

Been there - done that. Wait 'til Christmas comes & you have the Salvation Army singing all the live long day! And the drunks in shopping trollys late at night. On the plus side it was very handy for the station. Seriously, couldn't you just go down & ask them to turn it down a bit?0

Noise in a shopping centre during the day!? Outrageous!:cool:0

We had that at Christmas too.
Luckily late nights aren't an issue as the centre is locked up at night.
Like I say, Monday to Saturday, when all the shops are open, I expect noise, but on a Sunday when there's only a tiny off license open, and nobody around, I don't really want a group of 15 blokes in a tent with a generator and a bass guitar that's so loud it's waking my son up.0 -
They still have maximum sound levels they are supposed to keep to. Perhaps a call to Environmental Health would clarify this - and they would be able to check the volume at subsequent events. If they are operating at a volume in excess of that permitted, they are committing an offence just as much as anyone else with a PA system.
I live just off the main road and hardly hear a thing from the local churches of all types, the mosque or various temples in the area. There are a lot, but they all have consideration for the neighbourhood.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Which do you object to? The noise per se? Or the fact that it's 'preaching'? I'm guessing it's a good thing you don't live in a Muslim country - the muezzin calling you to prayer five times a day would proper get on your nerves!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Surely they have had bands playing in the shopping centre before, if so did you object then
when you moved in did you not think of the noise of bands playing0 -

What Would Jesus Do?Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
Above a shopping centre probably isn't the best place to live if you are up late/work nights.Foreign politicians often zing stereotypical tunes, mayday, mayday, Venezuela, neck
