Im i correct in thinking that you can only check in on-line if you pre-book a seat at 7.99.As i have just tried to and it says i have to book my seat.Cant remember having to pay for my seat to check in before. Is this new or just another way for them to get money out of us.

Yes, you can check in at the airport and get seats allocated there. Their online check in seems to force you to pre- book a seat.
