    O2 have finally decided they shouldn't have quoted 3.5mB/s and the speeds I'm getting are probably all what is possible. I guess they confuse the distance from the exchange with the distance of the wire to the exchange (there is woodland between).

    The next step would normally be to plug into the test socket behind the master socket faceplate, only applicable if you have extensions wired to the back of the faceplate.

    O2 have since asked me to have a look at my main telephone socket and it doesn't seem to be suitable for a test.
