Hello i'm new to this..

Bought a Samsung Galaxy S the 1st one with a free tv 35pm..

now given it all by cpw.. passed credit check etc.

tried to phone orange to register.. took too long to answer so hung up, the automated lady was saying another credit check would be done on the phone, and customers may have to pay a deposit before being connected..??

can anyone explain this?

have already passed the credit check with the network in store!!

Orange are having some delays in connections lately, it's taking up to 72 hours for them to go through. If you leave it, the line will register itself. If you're not connected within 72 hours go back to CPW.

  • Hi Sonic,

As MissKeith has advised we have had delays on registrations recently. Please give it the 72 hours stated above. If this is still not working contact the CPW who sold you the phone as they should have their own contacts in Registrations to chase the matter, but in regards to the credit check if you have already passed one in the store another should not be needed.

    Hope this helps,

So the start of air-time contract will be when the phone is registered then and not when bought? Would be quite dishonest if Orange charged pre-connection, wouldn't it? Orange wouldn't do that, now would they ;)

I'm fairly sure they only charge from date of connection but I'm interested to know the official stance too.

  • Hi all,

Just to clarify that any new accounts will be charged from the point of registration as this is when the Service Plan is applied to the account. When purchasing through third party dealers such as CPW the phone is registered at the time of purchase, so for example if the phone was bought today the account would be billed from today's date, however the registration may not go through immediately and can sometimes take slightly longer through 3rd party dealers as they use their own registration systems, which appears to be the case here.

    Hope this clears things up.
