As far as I know, as long as you leave on or before the last day of your fixed term, you can just leave without giving any notice. It is considered polite but not necessary. But you can't leave early and not be liable for the rent. I am happy to be corrected on this...

whose name is the deposit attached to at the dps, is it the LA or the landlord? i fear that the LA will try to create a dispute if its them, out of spite0

it may benifit you to inform them in writing that you do not give them permission to come round without your prior knowledge and consent, provided in writting.
i rememeber someone on here saying that clauses in the contract to inspect could be revoked, but that your right to quiet enjoyment had to be expressed to do so - you could waive it then get it back.

2 weeks from today. So theoretically I can leave 2 weeks from today and not have to pay any further rent once I have cleared out?0 -

I would think that is what the notice means. After all if they want you out they can't expect rent after you've left. Bear in mind they will do their final inspection immediately you've gone and don't have to allow access after you've left. So any cleaning etc needs to be done by the time you hand the keys back.

hang on, they've only given 2 weeks notice?
they need to give minimum of two months ending the day before your rent is due, and if you are still in contract they can't make you leave before the end of it either.Nonny mouse and Proud!!

according to their documents today Section 8 Ground whatever it is for Breach of Contract is just 2 weeks notice.... they begin proceedings, so they claim, two weeks from today....0 -

Yes (although is this still the case for an S8? In any case they can't force her to leave before a court judgement) - but at this point the OP wants to leave asap, and I don't blame her! Not sure what the legal position would be with regards to the rent though, but surely the fact that they've given notice would be considered as releasing her early from her contract, should she choose to leave at the end of the 2 weeks?0
