Proximity sensor White iPhone 4 Problems ?
Hi folks.
Just got a new White iPhone 4 and seem to have problems with the proximity sensor that shuts the screen off when you put the phone to your ear to take/make a call to stop you hitting speakerphone, mute, keypad ect-ect.
Seems to work sometimes and not others.
Just wondered if anyone else has this issue ?
My iPhone has all the latest updates on it and did a restore via iTunes but it still plays up sometimes.
Only had it a few days.

I had this problem when i got my white 4. I put the phone into emergency restore (turn off, plug into your computer and turn on holding down home/power button until the screen flashes up with the usb cable. Itunes will then says it has found a device in emergency restore. Go through the motions into resetting it and re update it and it should reet!Fleet Air Arm - 800 NAS - *Nunquam Non Paratus*Showing the 'Crabs' how its done for over a hundred years!Tesco loan, £4,000 over 3 years - £138 p/m6 months 0% bicycle finance - £60 p/m0

Hi
Thanks for the reply. No problems with it now at all then ?
So it sounds like a software glitch ? Do you know of anyone else that had this problem. ?
Cheers0 -
It worked for mine yeah. I dont know if its a glitch i just know this trick as i am a bit of an apple !!!!! and know alot about it (iphone 3G, black 4 and an ipad!) i havent spoken to apple about it as mine was sorted and is running sweet. Give it a go and if not take it into an apple store or apple corner in pcworld (dont go to 3,voda,02 etc) and they will be able to sort itFleet Air Arm - 800 NAS - *Nunquam Non Paratus*Showing the 'Crabs' how its done for over a hundred years!Tesco loan, £4,000 over 3 years - £138 p/m6 months 0% bicycle finance - £60 p/m0

Do you have a screen protector on it? The white's proximity sensor is bigger than the black, and screen protectors for the black 4 cover the sensor. I cut the top part of mine off and it works fine now.0

I do have a screen protector on it and I called O2 about the problem today and he asked if I had a protector on it.
He said it could be that causing the problem but I removed it and it was still the same, so I don't think it is caused by them.0 -
That's a pity. It solved the problem on mine.0

If you have only just bought it call apple on 0800 048 0408 - they are very helpful and should help you to fix the problem, be prepared to give your serial number when you call.0
