I emailed self same cowboys and asked for the name of just one ccj that they had won that related to parking....and answer came there none.

We are not allowed to call these people scum...so I won't.

you are correct in defying the temptation to call these people 'scum'.

equally, it would be unfair and defamatory to describe them as blood-sucking leeches intent on conning innocent motorists out of money.

that said, it's clear that you imply that perky and his associates are wrong un's; I demand that you apologise to the PPC's immediately.

(and you've got just 14 days to do it).
  • I have now received 2 letters the same (but with different references)! threatening me with CCJs, so far I have ignored all letters except the first one to advise them that I parked in the supermarket all day because I work for a charity and was in fact working! its quite worrying when you get letters threatening you with court summons - is the best advice to still ignore it all? will they take it to court?
Any advice would be apprecitated even though I have torn both letters in half already!! ;)

Who issued the original charge, CP Plus?

Anyway, whilst it wasn't necessary to contact them or offer an explanation, no harm done, just ignore them from now on. Everything DRPlus say is always lies. They make a lot of promises to take people to court but have never once made good on the promise.

Leave them talking to themselves, and they will get bored and go away as soon as they realise you are NOT a mug.

They can't just "threaten" you with CCJs The law doesn't work that way. For you to get a CCJ the case would have to go to court, you lose and THEN you don't pay whatever the judge orders within 28 days. This is such an unlikely scenario it's not worth worrying about.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

In fact, statistically you will win the Lotto jackpot before it happens.

Re-read the letters carefully. I bet they say something like it's possible that you might get a CCJ issued against you.

As above, it is possible. So is the world ending on 21 December. Both are as likely.

  • I have just received the 1st letter from my leasing company reference one of these dubious parking tickets from Sainsburys, from the 22nd December.

I have not heard anything since this date yet receive a threat from Debt recovery plus in the guise of a reduced payment offer. It starts with the line further to our "Notice of litigation" letter in relation to parking charges. However no such letter has been received from this shower or from my leasing company.

The reduced payment figure is £80 and seems such a fantastic bargain considering their customer already received payment for the goods I purchased. Are Sainsbury's really so stupid not to realise they are alienating customers and will lose thousands of pound per from boycotts on any purchases from them????

Is this just typical threatening techniques and should a clear process have been followed before this letter was sent?

Any thoughts other than just file under Complete Tosh and wait for the next threats?

No other thoughts are available [or indeed needed].

    Simply ignore.

I have just received the 1st letter from my leasing company reference one of these dubious parking tickets from Sainsburys, from the 22nd December. <snip>

    Leasing company? Red alert!

Make sure that they're not going to pay and then pass it on to you, plus an "administration charge".

There are days, when I wonder who are the bigger crooks. These “administration charges” must be a nice little earner for them.

Their contract T&Cs should have a clause about the driver being responsible for fines or penalties. Now, that's fair enough, for legally enforceable fines or penalties from councils, the police, train operators and Transport for London.

But this is a "speculative invoice" from a private company. If they’ve paid it, that's up to them.

Also advise them of this ...

    http://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/2009...s-urged/30698/

... and the guidelines on private parking tickets from the British Vehicle Rental & Leasing Association (BVRLA) ...

    http://lmgtfy.com/?q=bvrla+private+parking .

If they owe you any money, ask for it back, or else you’ll sue them for breach of their own contract.
