Hi All,
I have got Virgin Broadband at home using the Virgin/Netgear VMDG280 Wireless N Cable Gateway Router with built in Modem, I have to go and stay at my parents house for a couple of months who have sky but there router is broken, can I take my router and use it on there sky or is it locked to my virgin account ? It has all the wireless settings on the sticker on the router and the hub settings ?? I am a complete novice with computers so all help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Jay

Your cable modem won't even connect to a phone line let alone work for ADSL.
Sky provide routers for their broadband. If it isn't working get your parents to call Sky for a replacement.0 -
Will work with any Virgin Account then ? Or will it only work with my virgin account at home ?0

It'll probably work at a neighbours house (assuming they have a line that is good enough*), but possibly not more than a few streets away.
They are registered to your VM account, and I think the current system VM uses authorises them on the correct section of the network only (which may be a few streets or half a town).
*signal is within the right range (the little bits between the modem and cable adjust signal strengths if needed).0
