MAC Code/Changing ISP - What service level?

I advised my ISP on 27 Nov that I wished to transfer to another ISP and asked them for a MAC. A few days ago they advised that they couldn't give me a MAC until 16 Dec. I replied to ask them why and whether I will be able to transfer by 27 Dec (when I have to pay for the next month). If not, do I need to pay for a whole month or just pro-rater until transfered........no reply.
What should I be expecting? Is this acceptable?

Take a look at:
http://www.ofcom.org.uk/advice/codes/bbm_cop/
Should only take five days unless they have a good reason (but only if they have signed the voluntary code of conduct!!)I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.

Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
MMM...Freeola don't look like being signed up. Where do I stand with that?0

They are telling me that because I'm under a 3 month contract that ends on 27th, they can't request a MAC from BT until 16th under the terms of their contract. Is that true?
They then say that if I order from another ISP as soon as I get the MAC and I haven't migrated by 27th, then I will be charged £19.99 on 27th even if I migrate away next day.
Great innit!0 -
im with freeola too and i asked for my mac on 26th of last month i was told i couldnt have my mac until 15th december because of T&C's and got a email very late on 15th saying mac will be issused within next 48 hours, i didnt know about the charging for a whole month if you dont migrate by the end of your month, what crap is that, and i only went with them due to all the rubbish about short 3 months contract and we dont hold or tie you in a contract plaster over there web site, how long does it take aol to start up your service with them if i dont need any modem ?0
