Surely any kind of car finance company would run a mile if they saw a great big default on your credit report from another car finance company worth 22k?Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

I was thinking about leasing, as it certainly seems cheaper. Isn't it subject to the same credit checks, though?
I could try business leasing, but I'm not sure if that's also subject to personal credit checks.
Anyone shed some light on this?0 -
Yes car leasing is subject to credit checks and I do not think you would be able to get one. Can I just add that young people do not seem to realise "how the world works" I know that because my son is always being charged £30 or more for letters telling him he is overdrawn. He gets really angry about them charging him for the telling him the ****** obvious! But the solution is simple - do not go into the red. You need to be in control of your finances rather than let them control you. These finances companies and banks are like lions waiting to pounce on you and hit you for massive charges. It is how they earn their money!0

Admittedly, I was naive up until I found this website, and I never realised how much of a problem I could land myself in if I didn't manage my finances properly. I'm trying my best to remedy the situation, but this debt is going to cripple me for years to come, and I think they're asking an unfair amount from me.
On a lighter note, is business leasing subject to credit checks?0 -
I just made my son read your other thread and he cannot believe it. He thinks there must be a law against what they have done to you but he is your age and has a lot to learn about finance and how the world works.
Seriously you must get this sorted or it will blight you for a very long time. How it works is that if they cannot get any money from you they will “sell the debt” and the people they sell it to will do their utmost to make life miserable for you for years to come. You will not be able to get a mortgage or even to rent a property. I doubt you will even be able to get a mobile phone contract.
I think you should make them an offer and agree to pay a given amount per month. Call Consumer Credit Counselling during office hours 0800 138 1111 for advice. What you must not do is ignore it. Post on here regularly and we will all do everything we can to help you but you must help yourself as well.0 -
The have a website you can look at:-
http://www.cccs.co.uk/home.htm
You must avoid a CCJ (County Court Judgement) because by then all arguments are finished and you have no alternatives and no room for negotiations. SO DO NOT IGNORE THIS.0 -
pbradley, thanks for the advice. I got in touch with the CCCS about this, and they basically told me that i owed the full amount and the feeling I got from them was that there's no room for negotiation.
If you think it might give your son an eye opener, then show him the thread I just posted about how badly things turned for me in the space of 12 months. I'd really welcome your advice on it too, if possible.
