EDF Energy Opinions

Hi all.
We are moving into a new 2 bed house on Friday, and have been shopping around for Dual Fuel prices. Found EDF to be offering the best price for our needs - as we'd like to fix the price for the next year at least. They are offering a price fix till September 2012, which works well for us.

Just wondering if anyone had any honest opinions on EDF? Particularly if paying by monthly direct debit. Obviously the review sites are distorted because people mainly write when they've had issues, and all of the major suppliers are rated 2 stars of less so there's not a lot between them.

Look forward to hearing from you all,

Luke

    I like them.
I moved to them (from British gas and nPower) in Spring of last year, and everything went smoothly. I had a few queries, and their customer service was brilliant: all my phonecalls (freephone!) answered swiftly and efficiently. No problems with the direct debit. They always take it several days after the "nominated" date each month. Two debits - one for gas, one for electricity.

I have just called them this morning to ask them to move me onto the same deal you're considering, the Fixed Saver version 2, as my online saver deal is coming to an end soon.

I cannot under stand up to last week npower 'go fix 5' was the cheapest the edf 'fixed saver version 2 came out 2nd to fix 5' [too late now] npower is now go fix6 and is for me £100 dearer but I just scrapped in on fix 5 But also remember any saving with npower you must include their added bonus of £100 on the 13th month of the new year

Like lemonskinny i've had no real problems with EDF, they have good customer service and we have never had any trouble with the DD set, my only downside is i dont like there website, they are changing the system and i haven't been able to re-register as asked so i've been locked out for the last 3 months, not good when your on a paperless billing on-line tarrif, not to much of an issue as i gave my readings over the phone, we plan to stay with them when our deal ends in june hopefully they should have sorted the website out by then

was with EDF for 3 years in two locations, they were cheapest that time. CS is good and prompt, they don't try to overcharge you, and offer flexible payment if they were taking less than needed.
Have you got something to share - Do it.
When you don't know - Ask.

Are you sure you're locked out? I thought I was at first, because I haven't been sent a "new 12 digit account number", but I'd missed the link to the old log-in page in the text.

Sorry if you know all this and are still locked out.

Old pin code comes up as no registered account held on file they told me to re-register when the new number came, when we try comes up as your registering is being processed phone blah blah blah, they were good when we called, and said they been having problems with the new system, not really an issue as i gave my last reading over the phone so can work it out myself easy enough, but would like it sorting before the new tarrif takes effect.

I was with EDF Energy for a year, everything seemed to plod along nicely. Only concern is that as I lived alone in a 2 bedroom house, they did over estimate my billing, so if you have more bedrooms than people then make sure you ring them with your readings. The plus side of this is that I did have a £20 credit on one of my bills.

I had the exact same issue happen to me this week - locked out of the old system, phoned them, got my new 12 digit no. & was told to re-register with the new system.

My first attempt to re-register failed with an error informing me that EDF were in the process of writing to me with the new account details & please wait until that letter arrives. Ever the impatient I re-tried to register with the new system 2 hours later..........& it worked!! I think registration is just hit & miss at the moment.

I got an email sent by EDF the following day asking to follow a link to validate the email address used to login & Bob's your uncle, were off & going.

Interesting to note that the gas & electric are now combined into one account no., one outstanding balance & one DD amount, whereas they were always split before. I like the new messages service.
