How to disconnect oven/grill hobs

I don't think you should be dictating to your housemate how to cook. They pay rent to live there and use the facilities.
using a 2kw electric grill for an hour would cost about 30p max.
It isn't worth worrying about, and you risk your housemate thinking you are some kind of lunatic with all the unwiring.0 -
Someone who grills a lot is cheaper than someone who keeps turning the thermostat to 25 degrees, and wants to keep it there ALL YEAR ROUND.
Any way, if you need to, you can put an energy monitor on a socket, and ask him to pay extra for the energy consumed.
This is probably a grill fanatic's wet dream:

This other guy will probably want to give it the pride of place in the kitchen, so you lose the precious amount of worktop space you don't have.0 -
C'mon, from OP "Basically, I live with 3 other guys"lilac_lady wrote: »Does he clean the grill afterwards? If not, disconnect!
I think you can guess the answer

Get your head out of your backside and put back the elements you have disconnected. Who the hell are you to tell him that the electricity you use 'as 4 single guys is too much'?knowledgepower1 wrote: »Basically, I live with 3 other guys and one of us grills almost every minute. He grills sliced bread even. I have tried to tell him that the electricity we consume as 4 single guys is too much.
I have decided to disconnect the grill/oven, please how do I go about this? I have already removed the connectors to the element, but surprising he switched to fan oven.
If I remove the simmerstats, will the ovens stop working or what else can I do?
If you cannot convince him by discussion, then you have failed to make your point. As simongregson points out, it is 30p/hour. So 5 hours a week is costing you personally 37.5p. You are being petty to worry about that consumption. It is cheaper for you to live with this guy than to move out, so stop being so petty.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Your silly little opinion has been noted.
When each person puts £10 at the beginning of the month on the electricity meter, which is supposed to last for a month as we have always known for over a year. Mr griller comes and the electricity barely lasts 3 weeks. You can't keep a good man down...0 -

Easy put more money in the meter. If need be negotiate a higher rate for him.

Ask him for £25 instead see what his reaction is that's what EON?BG/EDF etc have done to me."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

That's what house sharing is about. Two of us live here and we just pay half the bills each. Neither of us checks up on what the other is using, we just get on with it. If you want more say over how things are used and how much money is spent, you have to live on your own.0

May be more to do with higher prices now compared to a year ago than Mr Toasty Man... £10 each simply buys less leccy, so it runs out?0
