Upgrade to IE9. It has fixed some of the known problems IE8 had.

If I do that will IE9 retain all my favourites, saved passwords, etc, or will I have to set up all over again? I don't think I can face that in the short term anyway to solve a trivial annoyance with MSE.

Which a Windows update might fix anyway if they are aware of it.

Glad I found this thread! My screen is off centre with IE and I appear to have 2 webpages overlaid in Firefox! Only on this site though. I recently upgraded to FF4 (or whatever the latest upgrade is) and then found that Roboform didn't work with it, so I went back - could that be the problem?!
If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.

Yes it will. Did for mine anyway.
Mind you, others have said that IE9 shows the problem as well, so might not fix it. Just don't have the problem on my Win 7 box, so can't say for sure.
