Were these mis-sold? Northern Rock & Halifax

Options
The northern rock PPI was paid off in 2009, a 2 year loan. Took it out over the phone, but was told that I was more likely to be given the loan if I took the PPI. What are they likely to make of this claim?

With Halifax, i had a credit card with a low balance. I received a phonecall, and even though I said no initially, the seller was pushy and wouldn't take no for an answer. He said that because my balance was low, I wouldn't be paying much anyway. I've since used the card more and realised last month that my monthly PPI charge was over £30 per
Month!! Would this be classed as mis selling? Would they still have recordings of the phone call to listen to their employee fleecing me?

Yes with NR. No with Halifax based solely on what you have said here.

PPI mis-selling is about how it was sold and how it was set up. Not actually having PPI itself. NR told you incorrect information to effectively force you to have it. Halifax gave you a sales spiel but you said yes to it. You havent indicated any wrong doing with that one. The premium information would have been issued in the writing with a cancellation rights notice. Your failure to notice the monthly premiums and then deciding it was too much to pay are not mis-sale reasons.
