Unfortunately the MSE Webmaster replied to others praising his introduction of this revolutionary badge for newbies but chose not to respond to my own point.
Oh well...:cool:0 -
Further down in the thread announcing a seemingly unnecessary 'new user' badge for all newbies I pointed out that the site's technical team's time would be better spent dealing with whatever individual is registering so many new accounts and spamming the board. It has started up again in Praise, Vent & Warnings tonight.

Oh well...
...no 'oh well' about it MSE should be actively pursuing people that post vile accusations. If not why not?0 -

An interesting part of the MSE Frequently Asked Questions would imply that more assertive measures could be taken against whoever is responsible for the recent 'spamming attack' that we're all aware of other than the reactive measures we're told are all that is possible. When banned former users do re-register or otherwise disrupt the Forum, this can cause severe distress to other users. Dealing with unwanted former forum users' posts distracts the team from the core purpose of the site and takes up time. Therefore in such circumstances we may:
- Report offenders to their ISP
- Charge offenders for the administrative costs of identifying and removing their posts at the rate of £40 per hour, plus any external costs that we incur.
- Take legal action to recover these costs.
- Report offenders to the authorities if their actions appear to amount to a breach of the Computer Misuse Act 1990 or any other relevant criminal legislation.

Hey, sorry to jump on this over a month later but I was googling a CD product and one of the results was this thread (I assume zoverstocks have this item, i haven't looked at any other results yet....)
How are these idiots able to simply re-register again with such ease? This would not happen on any other forum. Is it not monitored in any way??
It's all very well having this forum here (which is excellent by the way and has helped me in so many ways) but if you launch a forum, you need to employ someone to monitor it. You cant launch it then say "oh by the way, we do not have 24/7 admin staff so just ket us know if there are any problems". It cannot work like that and, in this case, it clearly hasn't.0 -

Unfortunately, the powers that be seem to think it can...
