Mobile internet connection help

Hi
I was hoping someone could advise me please. I am teacher and I am due to mark papers when I am away in England so need a mobile internet connection on my laptop.
I will have broadband once I am away but I have a three hour car journey and was hoping to mark while travelling on my laptop. Is there a way of getting mobile internet access maybe through my mobile phone (tmobile) or through BT (I have my phone line and broadband with them). I have briefly spoken to T mobile but the advisor just tried to sell me broadband.
I dont understand how it works!
Thank you

For mobile broadband:
Go to Site Finder, click on the map and pop the relevant location/postcodes in the box.
A map should appear, hopefully with some blue triangles.
You'll need to click on each of the blue triangles in turn, reading the details.
What you are looking for are UMTS masts under 'type of transmission' within 500 metres of the place of intended usage and the name of the operator.
Once determined, you can think about which network will be most suitable for your usage. Check the coverage map of the network in the second instance.
Don't expect a stable connection if you're travelling by car.
If you just intend to stick with T-Mobile, you can look at their bolt-ons and then look at tethering your mobile phone to your laptop(dependent on the model of telephone).0 -
Do you have a smartphone? Like the HTC Desire you can sync that to the laptop then tether it and use your phone as a modem. The only problem is that many mobile phone network providers don't like you to do this or say it is against the T&C's to do it.
You may be able to google your make and model of phone and see if it is possibleSomeone please tell me what money is0 -
Thank you for your replies - wild666 thats exactly the phone I have HTC Desire. If I google it what am I actually looking for to sync it please?
Thank you0 -

Yes you can get an Internet connection via your phone from my experience it is very succeptable to interuptions and "go slows".
In a built up area the data rate achieved can often be quite usable, in the country it can drop to a very slow rate (less than dialup speeds) and be sublect to interuptions.
I suggest a good book for your journey and doing marking somewhere static.0 -
Thank you very much for your help - I am going to give it a go but plan my time as if it wont work that way I'm covered on all angles.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond.:beer:0
