Freecycle to Ebay
Comments

Someone in my local area had the tyres slashed on his car, believed to be because the car was a request on freecycle to transport his daughter who is ill to appointments etc then seen for sale on his drive with other cars he's 'WANTED' for.
I am also shocked by the amount of luxury items requested. The only things I have ever requested was a vacuum cleaner for a friend who was desperate. One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
A simple answer is
IT IS MORALLY WRONG

It's possible we're being a little harsh on th OP, whose post was too vague to draw any conclusions about whether they would be likely (whether explicitly or by implication or omission) to misrepresent their intentions. It would be really low to do that, though I wouldn't condone punitive acts such as tyre-slashing.COOLTRIKERCHICK wrote:but on saying that...... in my experience ....the items that i have had from the freecycle site....( except for one ) have been totally naff... a dodge fridge that neally burned my kitchen down.....a dead trantula......and a boot full of toys that went straigh to the tip.....0

I always see things that would sell easily but have ignored them as I would rather they go to someone who would use them! saying this someone else who picks them up would probably go on to sell them anyway!!
I think its a fantastic site, I have had a as new....bookshelf (for my daughter who didn't have one and her books were just piled on the floor! - she was so chuffed!!) and chest of drawers (for my baby who didn't have anything) both from the same person!! I was so happy as I would never been able to get them anything like that a couple of months ago! I also have had some taps and shower connected - slightly debating over whether I should keep it (I have taps but no shower) or give to my mum (whose taps have broken and she keeps having to use the top off one tap to put on the other tap when she uses it!) - think my mums case is worse!! I have also got other bits for mum (Who doesn't have a lot of money) It is a fantastic site and I really hope it would stay being that. the one problem I have is thinking of people who don't have a computer and need the items!! how to make these people aware!!Angel

I have two questions.... firstly is this morally wrong? secondly is their money to be made?
Thanks!
Contains Mild Peril...please see the OP above..................Doesn't sound in the slightest bit vague to me.....they intend to take off freecycle and flog on eBay....assuminng the stuff is good enough..........
Anyone even CONSIDERING doing that is a money grabbing cretin................end of subject.
They may as well give out charity bags round the doors ...and take the good stuff to sell on eBay. That's the reason I take all our decent stuff direct to the local charity shops and our local pet shelter.
Mikeif i had known then what i know now0 -
I have got some high value items from kind people on freecycle..... I could sell them and make money; however in the spirit of freecycle I got them because I needed them and i will not ever sell them on. If I need to part with them they will go back on freecycle.
I have given lots of stuff via freecycle and I would be really disheartened if it was sold on.... that is not what I offer it for.2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
I think the op has had sufficient responses now to gauge that this isn't really a popular suggestion.
As some of the responses are bordering on the abusive, I've closed this thread. If anybody has any queries about this decision please contact abuse@moneysavingexpert.com
The majority of Freecycle groups have their own guidelines for taking items to sell on. It would probably be most useful for the OP to contact their local Freecycle group directly and check whether this would be within their rules.
My local Freecycle group, for example, does allow reselling of items but asks that all members have the courtesy to admit that they will be reselling when requesting items.0
