iTunes or Windows media player. In Windows Media Player, make sure that you choose the correct options, as otherwise it will 'rip' to Windows Media Audio(.wma), not .mp3.
Not a problem transferring via portable drive.0 -
They are both rubbish! Use a proper ripper like dbPowerAmp music converter. Full instructions are given on this webpage and I can mail you a download like for the last free version.:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

That's not true at all. I also have dbPowerAmp. It's great for all kinds of codecs, but the lady just wants to 'rip' CDs to .mp3.
Windows Media Player will do the job quickly and efficiently.0 -
I use Audiograbber with the LAME encoder, once installed, it's easy to use and the quality is excellent.0

I recommend http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/ for a competent pc user or http://www.mgshareware.com/frmmain.shtml for the less advanced user0

I go with Donnie on this one purely for simplicity.0

You are assuming that we all find windows media player simple to use - as I haven't used it regularly for years I find it tricky / irritating to use
I wouldn't have a clue where to start to rip a cd with it0 -
Audiograbber and FreeRip as mentioned are two very simple easy to use apps.
Windows Media Player is another good option. Depends what you use. I personally prefer a seperate single app (like the above two) instead of something like iTunes or WMP."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
I use iTunes. It's simple to use and does an adequate job for my old ears. Just make sure that in
iTunes -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Importing
you select "MP3 Encoder" if that's what you want. (AAC is better).
I also use iTunes for importing audiobooks from CD. In this case you should select AAC Encoder and Setting: Spoken Podcast. A handy script called "Make Bookmarkable" can be used to change AAC to .m4b file type and that let's the iPod remember where you were when you last switched off.0 -
