Bit surprised at all this negativity towards Kwikfit. I've used them at least dozen times over the past 5 years and find their service and prices they offer very good. I have never had any complaints

Maybe I've been lucky having a good branch in my home town and have always been treated courteously and professionally by their staff.

    P.S I am not a Kwikfit employee

Negativity?? It was darn right dangerous in my case - there was no disputing my tyres were the wrong size - unfortunately my BF did not have any receipt from KF to go back to them with, as it wasn't till a lot later I discovered what they had done, but the new garage documented in writing for me the error - I really should have taken it up with them but had a lot of other stuff going on in my life at that time. Plus I had been driving around like it for well over a year.

I may be a lone voice in their defence, but I've dealt with my local KF for several years and always found them fair and square. However, I probably wouldn't rush into another branch elsewhere - maybe it's just my local one that's staffed by decent blokes. :-)

Kwik Fit are con artists, they find things to repair that do not need repairing

Even if that was true, they are not allowed to go ahead with the repairs without your approval. If they did then you would have every right to complain.

I am not trying to defend Kwikfit and a lot of posters appear to be unhappy but to reiterate, I have never had any problems with them and they are the only garage I have used in the past 5 years. I also have found their pricing fair and standards of customer service very good.Again maybe I am lucky with my local branch but it wouldn't stop me using another one.

A couple of examples where they have treated me well as a customer.

    1) They have allowed me to use my own oil and filter on 3 occassions for a straight forward oil change which they performed and didn't want to charge me anything.

    2) I mislaid a £30.00 off voucher which they sent me, never ever found it and when I phoned their head office they sent me another voucher with no questions asked.

As I say maybe I am lucky but I have to speak as I find from my experiences with them

Stay the hell away!! Claimed my car which does 2500 miles a year needed new suspension bushes which were fine at it's service only 2 months earlier! They wanted over £400 fitted (only about 200-250 at a reputable garage). Went to my usual garage and he passed it, said they're fine just an advisory!

Con artists!! They get you in with a cheap deal and then rob you!! There was a poor girl infront who was told she needed about £600 of work doing to pass her MOT (renault clio)!!

they failed my car on it's MOT with a £500 repair bill. It passed the next day at the local garage with a £50 tyre and a 50p bulb, I would never go anywhere near them again

    I agree.

I know absolutely nothing about cars but what I do know is that Kwikfit told me that my husband's car needed new front brake pads/disks to pass the mot. After telling them that they were replaced 2 months prior and that I would be contacting the garage who did them and that I was not happy was I told that maybe they may have made a mistake !!!!!! The mot passed without any work needed?????

All I can advise is............... STAY WELL CLEAR.... the MOT check maybe cheap but it'll cost you.

Just come across this thread. I'm another who wouldn't go near them tbh.

Car was making some rattling noises when turning corners only. OH thought it could be wheel bearings, so we took the car there for a 'free brake check' as when we phoned they said they could check wheel bearings at the same time. Stupidly I decided to mention I was looking around for where to book it's MOT in the following week.

Guess what? I came away having been told that there was a hole in the exhaust and it was blowing and would fail the test, but I couldn't juts buy the middle part of the exhaust as it was on the join, so I would have to buy a new middle part and backbox... and that the brakes were 'verging on dangerous' (the point where I started to doubt them as OH had only changed the brakes 7k miles previously).

So I thanked them for their time and left with the car, and took it somewhere else for its MOT, which had no mention of brakes or exhaust, all I got was an advisory on a wiperblade and an advisory as I forgot to take the kids seat out.

Please can I ask why I need to take the kids car seats out?
I have isofix seats and wasn't aware I needed to do this?

    Thank you
