I did my first job for Gapbuster last night. It was for a well known pizza chain-home delivery.
I read and re-read the instructions carefully and did everything I was asked to. I had to order a pizza or pasta as well as a side order. The reimbursement was £ with a £ fee. I had a good look through the menu and due to cost constraints ended up ordering a small pizza and some chicken wings. The paperwork said that I could order ANY pizza from the menu, except margeritta and anything with pineapple on it. In a box above was a chart that listed medium and large pizzas but no where did it say I wasn't allowed to order a small.
I've now had a phone call saying that they can't pay me the assignment because I had a small pizza but as they are in a sticky situation and need another job doing-if I ordered a medium pizza and a side order from the same company they would as a 1 off pay me £ which would cover both jobs.
The issue I have is
A) I don't want pizza twice in a row
I spent £13.49 last night, the cheapest medium pizza/side if I ordered tonight would cost £14 and would be for things I don't eat. It is impossible to get a medium pizza and side for the £ they are offering as reimbusement and I haven't got a spare £14 to pay out again, especially when I can be sure they will not reimburse.
I've told them no anyway and said I want to speak to a supervisor on Monday. They did say the rest of my paperwork was perfect.
Has anyone got any experience of them refusing to pay out and did you manage to get them to change their mind?
I'm really angry as I have now lost £13.50 that I couldn't really afford to lose on an overpriced small pizza!!!

Yes, I bought a pizza the other day and it was ridiculously priced. Really shocking value. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

It's very clear in the notes that you need to order a medium or a large, I suggest you re-read them before your phone call with a supervisor on Monday. The last thing you want is them making you sound like an idiot and if you argue with them when you're in the wrong you'll be very quickly sacked!0

I have altered my original post to remove the fees.
Like I said in the original post it said I could order ANY pizza off the menu, with 2 exceptions, a margherita and any pizza with pineapple. I have read the notes again and it isn't clear that you can't order small. If I am told I can order ANY pizza off the menu, I expect to be able to order ANY pizza off the menu!
TBH, I couldn't Care less if they sack me, I wouldn't want to work for them again. I have since read online that they will use any excuse not to pay people.2013 Alphabet challenge: A[STRIKE]B[/STRIKE][STRIKE]C[/STRIKE]DEFGHIJKLMNO[STRIKE]P[/STRIKE]QR[STRIKE]S[/STRIKE]TUVWXYZ

This is the box that you've misunderstood. It says "Pizza ordering instructions" and only lists the medium and large pizzas.
Under starters it doesn't say that you can't order nachos, but it's not listed. That doesn't mean you can order the nachos and expect to be paid for it. Same principle for the pizza size.
It is however a bit of a con that you can't get the specified food for the reimbursement though. You just need to see it as a cheap meal, not a way to make money!0 -
I have a similar job tonight, and instead of pizza I am going to get the £5.99 pasta.0

You can get the pizza mia or a calzone or pasta with side for way under the reimburesement.
if you order a normal pizza its very clear it must be medium or large.
its generally 50p over the spend if you have a meal deal and no drink, so i see it as a cheap meal. And i am quite happy to have pizza twice in a row!0 -
Gap normal rules are you are not allowed to have anyone with you during the visit. so knowing a small pizza is normally for one person. a medium is for a couple and a large is for family..
how can they limit you to buying a more then u can eat pizza and demand u have a side too..
in the webexpress questionaire as the final commet question put that £13.50 is too expensive for a single small pizza and side. i know that harvester can do a large mixed grill with a all you can eat salad bar for less..
i have done some gap buster shops and found the fees so be far below.
basically cost of meal plus a preium which is less then minimum wage.
going to a client which involves in town parking costs basically can wipe out the premium and im basically left with just getting a free product out of them.
even some clients where purchase not needed leaves me better off if i never done the visit.
i remember days when premiums were better.
if the client was to employe one of their own staff to visit each store to do an internal secret shop, the employee would receive proper wages, travel allowance and purchasing expense. cant clients or GAP do something with their prices to incentivise us.
i have seen my local area where lots of jobs are available, but adding up the re-imbursments found it not worth doing. no two visits are nearby each other on same day to save on parking etc.
its such a shame0 -
the pizza one you can take up to 4 people with you.0

A little bit of advice here... surprisingly enough not many people want to work for the derisory fees offered for these jobs and when they don't get picked up for some time Gap start to increase the fees or offer other incentives to do the jobs.
I now never take a pizza or a burger job for the fee they offer but still end up doing quite a lot of these jobs as the due date nears and the fees start increasing...0
