Beware Flybe Charges for ammending booking

Beware the charges that Flybe make when you amend a booking after payment. I recently booked my wife on a flight from Newcastle to Exeter, within 10 mins of making the booking my wife realised she could not do that flight and asked if it could be changed, I opend her booking up and the change button was prominent to alter her details which was no problem. When I recieved my card payment demand it showed an additional payment of £96 to Flybe and when I phoned to find out why I was informed it was the additional charges for changing the booking. It was obvious that the whole transaction is automated so how come can they justify such a huge amount to alter the booking? They should rename the airline !!!!!! Turpin airways!!!

Welcome to 2011. I appreciate you needed to get your complaint off your chest, but all airlines charge change fees on cheap economy tickets, normally a fixed fee plus "difference in cheapest available fare", and very many will add another credit or debit card handling fee to the transaction as well.

For future reference, if you don't like paying change fees on FlyBe, then you should book their "Economy Plus" flexible fare. It's more expensive up front, but allows changes, cancellations etc.

All budget airlines will charge you for changing the booking and departure date anyway ...

As will most if not all airlines as far as I'm aware unless you have coughed up for a more expensive flexible fare.

Leeds to Belfast £39 but if you want to sit down it goes up to £51 and if you pay by card it goes up to £61.

Yet at the beginning of booking process it says total you will pay is...

Is there any way you can stand and pay by cash at the check in desk.

that's incorrect

on the seat selection page, click continue, and you get the following pop up,

then select continue without seats
