You are not allowed to sell "virtual" items on Ebay such as your coins, software licences via email etc etc. You broke the terms and conditions of Ebay and you may find it is actually Ebay who have deleted and reversed the sale.

so it could be automatic? can the buyer just click "end dispute" or something then ?

checking his feedback, hes also recently bought 2 other sets of coins from different buyers. i may message them asking if the same thing has happened to them

paypal have given me 3 options, 2 of them are refunding the buyer and the 3rd is to sent proof of delivery

i'm going to send him a envelope of air with tracking number on the package and write that into paypal. hopefully that should do it

ive messaged the buyer asking what's wrong, so i will wait for his response first

I've sold a lot of virtual things on PayPal, both via eBay and via trading forums.

If I remember correctly, you need to raise some sort of dispute with PayPal and state, clearly: the item was virtual. IIRC it states in the PP rules that BUYER protection does not stand for virtual items. So don't worry.

(btw, that idea was genius. I normally sell my item as "Joke, with free <X>" where X is the real item that you are selling. In future I will send a tracked letter with the joke on it. :D)

thanks, but i cant open any dispute. i can only pick set options to resolve his dispute

and the only one is to prove proof of postage, so even if they don't have buyer protection on virtual items, i can't do anything else because firstly i have to give proof of postage

im still hoping this is an automatic thing because my listing got removed, and if so it says the buyer can cancel the dispute

otherwise i'll just send the tracked envelope like i said, then i'll put towards the messages he sent me (saying how i should send the coins and such) and also that he has left me positive feedback saying how fast the delivery was

    hopefully this should do it

A claim for bank reversal can be won (if one ignores the fact that there may or may not be buyer or seller protection on an intangible item) merely by showing proof of posting to the address that paypal said was 'OK to send to'

Therefore upload a copy of your proof of postage, if you have one and ask paypal to cover the loss for you.

If nothing was actually sent then assuming buyer paid over 7 days ago there is no point in sending anything now as seller protection requires item to be posted within 7 days.

There isn't a proof of postage as nothing was posted.
The "items" sold were virtual coins for use with an online game.

well the listing was actually air + free virtual item.

its only been 2 days since he paid so hopefully my posting idea works

so i got an e-mal this morning saying they couldn't find evidence of unauthorised access to the buyers account, so i have gotten my money.

not sure why, since its only been a couple of days and it was supposed to last a week, also the buyer didn't respond to any messages i sent him. oh well, i'm glad its over

in future i am always sending recorded delivery. it's a joke the buyer can just click "unauthorised account use" up to something ridiculous like 6 months later and still get a full refund, and you'd be screwed because you have no proof of postage
