Luxury/romantic accomodation recommendations up north?

Hi all
Its my ten year anniversary in September and I'm hoping to plan a surprise night or two away. I'm thinking of open fire, hot tub, four poster bed, maybe a sea view?? ;)
Does anyone have any recommendations? would prefer it was self contained/catering rather than a hotel but open to all suggestions.
We're in Yorkshire but would consider travelling to surrounding counties (even southern Scotland)
I know its a while away yet but I like to plan ahead. I've googled it a bit but most require a weeks stay and personal recommendations are always the best.
TIA
:D

Lumley Castle near Durham is lovely. The castle bedrooms are the best. Four poster beds and big baths and a view of the river rather than the sea. Not sure about fires or hot tubs though!

These are log cabins in York, set in the middle of a forest and most of them come with a hot tub, jacuzzi and four poster bed. There are trees and bushes around the cabins so you have privacy in the hot tub and you can take a short walk through the forest to a nearby restaurant. Lovely and romantic, this is where my hubby proposed while I was sat in the hot tub! :D

For some luxury and something special try googling the Cider Tower at Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway. It had a lovely 4 poster and had just been renovated when we stayed about 6 years ago to celebrate our anniversary.

  • I have a place in Blackpool. My brother uses it as a solicitors office. It's about 10 minutes walk from the promenade.

Griffon Forest is fantastic and very romantic. We went there for my husbands 30th which was 10 years ago before they had the hot tubs.

We have celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary this weekend and we had a night in the Hilton Hotel in Manchester. I originally thought a country house hotel would be great for our anniversary but this city centre hotel was fantastic. We booked a suite which included access to their exec lounge. Wherever you go will be very special.
