If somebody walks with a limp

I have a limp as a result of a badly broken thighbone. It causes me no pain, although the rearranged muscles give me a twinge now and again. I can walk without difficulty or pain.

However, I would never adopt certain postures or lie on the old wound because that does give me pain. So for DLA purposes, I have no problem. Employment is another matter, because there are certain things I can't do any more.

The two are not necessarily the same and are often confused.

What next? I will try and walk a few miles with severley disabled feet then complain that i was wearing caterpillar boots and they hurt my foot

the and by the way i am disabled

That's a bit unreasonable isn't it. How about if I re-wrote that sentence as "In that case you sit in the disabled area. There is no point moaning about it when it pretty obvious to most people with half a brain that the stairs in a football stadium is hardly disabled friendly." A long trip in a taxi isn't always financially viable. One ATOS appointment cost me £54 ONE WAY. And anyway, maybe formaldehyde_perfume spent all her spare cash on tickets to a Leeds match...

BTW I agree 100% that forcing a disabled person to sit in a disabled area and pay extra in order to attend with their family is discrimination.

  • Thank you to the people who defended me in my absence.

The actual situation was that my mum, who is my carer, divorced my dad and got the car in the settlement. At the point of my ATOS medical we were in the middle of moving house and I rarely left my bed anyway so changing the car was not highest on the priority list at that point as I simply wasn't well enough to need it.

I have taken a taxi doing almost exactly the same journey at 9pm which took 30mins and cost £40 (shared between 8 people) and as they go by time rather than distance I would hate to think what that would have cost me one way in peak traffic, which took me an hour and a half that day. At the time I was on ESA Assessment Phase and no other benefits, meaning I had £50 a week to deal with all my financial needs.

I'm sure you will be pleased to hear that my health is fairly stable at this point in time and as such the car issue was made a priority and we now have a suitable car that I find much easier to use on many levels :)
