Which shoes are good for your feet?

Hush Puppies have always suited my feet. Mine are very sensitive and are often tender.4.30: conduct pigeon orchestra...0

Yes, some people do need insoles, these keep the weight much better aligned and then the pressure comes off the forefoot. A podiatrist is good, but make sure it is a registered podiatrist as not everyone has the proper qualifications
Hotter shoes are excellent in that they are well made, good soles and come in width fitting. Against them is the fact that they are mainly mail order although they do have some shops now. Clarks are getting better becuase some of their shoes now have removable insoles so if you have an insole that is prescribed you can swop over. And then keep the 'shoes to die for' for going out to nice restaurants!
I have terrible feet and had foot surgery in my thirties which just made me worse
Flitflops are very comfortable for most people but they make your toes claw more (any flip flop will)
Its interesting that someone commented that they felt as though falling backwards in a competely flat shoe. I used to feel like that decades ago in primary school when I wore plimsolls. Its to do with muscles length in the calf - or maybe the achilles tendon, am not sure, anyone who has this problem can def cure it with correct exercise - again worth speaking to a podiatrist0 -
Has anyone tried those sort of wedge type things that you put inside the heel part of shoes? I was wondering whether they'd be any good to alleviate the flatness of so many ballet pumps?
Thanks for the link MarzipanFish, I'll try a pair of those on next time I'm near Clarks.0 -
Well I saw the chiropodist yesterday who says I have to file my feet every couple of days and put cream on every night. She scraped away at my feet with a scalpel and they feel sooooooo much better now!I have realised I will never play the Dane!
Where are my medals? Everyone else on here has medals!!0 -
no, its some exercises you need - may be achiles tendon, am not sure - but I do know, if a shoe isnt comfortable dont wear it except for best. My feet are basically crippled becuase I have so many probs (genetic not shoes!) and your feet must NOT be treated as a fashion item, tempting as it is. When you get frustrated just think of me, I have not had a pair of shoes from a shoe shop for nearly 30 year,s yet I love clothes and fashion so it has come hard .0

There is a brand in th US called Naturalizer that are great - stylish and made for keeping feet comfy. If you are on holiday there, or can order online, you might want to check them out.
I just bought 7 pairs on a recent trip at around £25 a pair, with several pairs put away for years to come!0 -
These - http://www.shoezone.com/Mens-Shoes/Black-Casual-Lace-Up-Mens-Shoes/50147 - are my work shoes and I put my special insole inside. I think I need a different insole though as I don't think mine is right for me anymore. What do people think of these shoes ? I've had them three times so far. I like them for stability for my ankle, the shape of the arch (as I have no foot arch) and the thick heel.
I need to head to the docs as my corns and feet are playing up due to buying these shoes - http://www.shoezone.com/Womens-Flat-Heeled-Casual-Shoes/Black-Leather-Lace-Up-Womens-Shoes/10254 - which have give me blisters on one heel, cut the other heel and aggravated corns on both feet. I have started to get sharp pains across the ball/toes of one foot as well so I'm not happy. I had to buy these as my other shoes bust and the shop had not got mine in a size 6 in stock
I love my Nike Zoom Air trainers from Amazon. So thick, comfy and padded. I don't have my insoles in these but they have one in them anyway.0 -
I think as others have intimated there are some good quality shoes for women in the shops but it's trying to find some that (don't want to be rude here, but..) don't look frumpy??
At the moment it seems all that's available in the shops is flat ballet-pump style shoes (totally impractical and the amount of walking I do they'd be worn out within a week!) or high heels.0 -
Skechers shape ups. Seriously!
They come in lots of different styles but are a little but clunky I'll admit. I wear them for work and even after 14 hours on my feet they're still comfy. I struggle to wear anything else now.

I have terrible feet. Very wide and high arches and suffer with really bad hard skin on the balls of my feet so see a chiropodist every 6 weeks.
I find Clarks shoes are best. I can't wear totally flat shoes and have to have a bit of a heel.
I wear orthotics in my shoes and find this website quite good:
