When we were little we had Clarks shoes but now I am a grown up (!) my feet are in a terrible state. I don't wear heels often but I do sometimes and have been wearing flat shoes a lot. I need to make an appointment with a chiropodist because my feet are painful and I seem to have what my OH says are corns.
So...I need some new shoes and would like to know if anyone can recommend and shoes that are actually beneficial and supportive please.

I don't have problems with my feet as such, but I have a dogdy ankle so wearing completely flat shoes/flipflops tend to aggravate it. I found Gluv fliplops last year, they do a complete range of shoes as well. They don't cause irritation to my ankle at all as they are slightly raised in a very small wedge, and even though they have no heel support, being flipflops, they feel very comfortable and easy to walk in. I'll be buying another pair this year.
I don't like shoes shoes (like court shoes etc) - I wear boots with a low heel in winter, and flipflops/low wedges/one pair of flat pumps in the summer (but the pumps kill my ankle and the front of my calfs if I walk in them all day).0 -
I am the same, I always used to wear filpflops, have started wearing Vans trainers recently and my feet have been a lot better and much less painful! I have also found uggs to be quite bad!0

I can't bear my feet hurting.
Clarks still exist and do some really nice shoes, especially winter boots. Hotter and Hush Puppies are my two favourites. Really nce hush puppies still feel comfortable. Both are expensive, but I look on ebay and sometimes get something. That said I have had two pairs of hotter boots which I have worn almost daily, say 50% of the time for the last eight years, and they are just starting to show their age and look shabby. (I polish them more often and this is just eeking them out.)0 -
Hotters, Ecco, Rohan & Clarks are all good for the wider/under pressure foot. Surprisingly Evans do some good wide fit shoes & boots (the only ones that will go round my calves) just need a size smaller than standard shoes.
Also fitting arch supports has helped me the most.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0 -
i am flat footed and my podiatrist has told me not to wear flat dolly shoes (although i wear them still more thna i should!). she told me i should wear trainers, or shoes that are covered, preferably with laces as they give proper support to the feet. I find trainers most comfortable as they have an insole in them (the insoles i have made are too high so need to get a new pair!)
anything which fully supports your feet is best - although unsupportive shoes wont do too much damage if only worn evey now and then0 -
I have wide feet with high arches, and for work I wear Hotter shoes (winter) and Reiker sandals (summer).
Outside of work I wear Merrells usually, or New Balance trainers if I am walking to work. For hot weather I have some Birkenstocks and Ecco sandals and for cold winter weather it's boots, got some Merrell boots and some Ecco.0 -
Thank you for your suggestions! This is just the sort of thing I needed to hear as I was starting to worry that there weren't any shoes for us grown-ups! I have made an appointment to see a chiropodist on Tuesday and will be checking out these sites you've suggested. My feet are killing me today!I have realised I will never play the Dane!

i wearBirkenstocks in the summer as I love the way they support the arches of my feet0

Or Fitflops? They are my most comfortable footwear, although I can't wear toeposts and have bought the strappy sandals and boots.
Have a look at the reviews here:

I thinks it's such a shame that so many of the brands that are good for the feet are a bit 'grannyish'. I love the look of ballet pumps but can't cope with the totally flat ones as I don't walk well in them and feel as if I'm tipping backwards. Anyone recommend flat shoes with a small heel that look as good as ballet pumps?0
