    Debt-free and Proud!
Checked bank, boss has forgotten to pay me again. Sigh.

I wanted a no spend day today but my girlfriend is going for an important job interview so she's just had to go to the salon for a full workup before she shows up (she works in PR/Marketing so it's essential).

Also throw in the cost of a couple of taxis and my NSD has definitely one out of the window. Ho hum.

Well, I shall not get a lunch from a shop, I shall eat whatever I can find in the house instead. That's about the edge of what I can do today.
Debt free, moved, got new stuff for the new flat - got everything I wanted and need - now just saving.

How did the interview go Pern? How about once you finish sorting out your career plans, you have a go at mine. Trying to decide what I like doing and I don't think its anything I could make a career out of. :o

I didn't get it, but I like to think everything happens for a reason...so hopefully it's for the best.

I'd gladly help, but I don't think I'd be much help at the moment as I can't sort myself out! What do you like doing? Perhaps I can at least think of a career involving that :)

I don't know if I should go for their offer of a job on the other team (more purchase ledger instead of simple invoice processing), & apply through the scholarship fund to do AAT...it's not something I have ever wanted to do, I thought I did as I applied to cover the role of the assistant accountant but the more I looked through that college prospectus, the more I realised other subjects were putting a smile on my face instead!

The thing is I told my employer it was something I was aiming to start within the next 2 years when I have the money for it, so I feel as if I have to apply now else they'll call me out on that, & on the one hand I at least know this is a sensible career path - it pays well, would be flexible enough for me to start a family one day & still have a social life, etc, but my heart's just not in it. The idea of sitting in a classroom learning about fixed assets & bank reconcilliations puts me to sleep, but the animal management course that I could also easily fit around work puts a smile on my face & I think I'd really enjoy it. I just don't know how sensible it is as I have no experience in that field, there's no definitive career path afterwards, & unless I go all the way & become a vet I don't see me earning very much. I know it's not all about money, but I want to make sure I earn a comfortable living instead of constantly living from one payday to the next.

Someone wiser then me please sort me out! I have always flitted from one job idea to the next - to show you just how undecided I am I've wanted to be a teacher, an author, a vet, a vet nurse, a psychiatrist, a designer, a zoo keeper, a nurse, a psychiatric nurse...

These days I feel more inclined towards working with animals, & I know I definitely want something that when I go home at night I feel like I have done something worthwhile, that not any old person could do, & I want to wake up in the morning excited about what the day will bring instead of touching the snooze button & saying "just 5 more mins..."

Come on you wise DFW's, help a girl out!

Hello, dont often post on here, but read sometimes.

I would say that from experience any career with animals is a labour of love and not done for the money! If you want a fullfilling career then go for it, but dont expect it to pay well, unless you want to be a vet or similar but then thats years of training and very hard work.

If I had the money would love to go back working with horses full time, but alas cannot afford it, so have a boring office job and have horses on the side so get my "life" there. ;)

Whatever you decide to do good luck :D

Yay boss paid me. Didn't even have to prompt him either, I'm impressed, he's getting better.

Oh and phoned up the council who told me that had miscalculated and I owed them £168 in council tax from last year. Doh. Managed to get it all sorted out, but ouch, my bill has gone up from £69 a month to £87 a month. Very unpleasant. Still the early call managed to avoid any silly court action etc.
Debt free, moved, got new stuff for the new flat - got everything I wanted and need - now just saving.
