2 free PS3 games to compensate for down time

Sony has pledged to give PlayStation Network subscribers two free games when PSN's down time finally comes to an end.

The PlayStation Network has been offline for over two weeks, and it is looking likely that Sony will be unable to come good on its plan to resurrect the service by this evening. The firm has admitted that the subsequent revelation of 24.6 million SOE accounts also being hacked has stalled its hopes to relaunch PSN as quickly as hoped.


However, Sony Europe spokesperson Nick Caplin has revealed that PSN members will be offered a choice of two from five free PlayStation 3 games as an apology, whilst PSP users will be offered two from a choice of four titles. He reiterated that Sony was "working around the clock" to end the down time that has caused frustration for some 77 million PSN gamers across the globe. Caplin didn't give any details on which games would be offered, but said details would be arriving "very soon".

All existing PlayStation Network customers will be provided with 30 days free membership in the PlayStation Plus premium service. Current members of PlayStation Plus will receive 30 days free service.

OP, you forgot to mention that Sony are providing everyone with an Identity Protection service, again free of charge. Details are still a bit sketchy, but I was under the impression it was being offered alongside the 2 free games.

wow hoo we are back online FINALLY . Debthater are you sure becausewhat i read it said the identity protection was just for north america bcause only orth amercians card details were stolen? But then again cant believe everything i read, especially on this subject

I wouldn't mind 2 free PSP games... although I have hacked my PSP and download games anyway

The only game I play is Football manager anyway.... and Spyro from the PS1

I have heard rumours that they are apparently full ps3 game ie like call of duty rather than ps1 classics or minis. but like i say its all rumours ive read and heard.

Also they are giving away a free month of playstation plus. But i have playstation plus and was told if you dont renew it you lose your downloads that you get with ( Not the 2 free compensation games )

Re-read the posts on their blog.

America was offered "insurance packages" to deal with any fraud that may occur.

In Europe, they are offering free identity protection cover, but because each country is different in the way they deal with things it is taking time to put a package together.

I wonder if people that actually had money fraudulently removed from their account (my husband had nearly £300 taken) will get compensated ?
