Hi,
I currently use Lloyds Tsb for my main banking Ie salary in bills out etc.I have requested on more than one occasion to have a cheque book. I keep recieving a letter stating I'm not elgible for one? Why is the question? I have a classic Vantage account and feel I'm not getting all the benefits I should be recieving. Can anyone shed any light? Thank you!

1) Bad credit history
2)Fraud
Two most common reasons.0 -

May I ask why exactly you want a Cheque book? There are better alternatives to pretty much all of the uses.0

I believe only a cheque guarantee card needs credit scoring, although I may be wrong.0

Cheque Books are being outmoded by the banks, as cheque guarantee cards cease to function at the end of next month.
Thats ALL cheque guarantee cards. Another way for the banks to control everything with chips and plastic, taking hefty fees whatever you do!0 -
Back to the original post about getting a cheque book, you need really to find out why the bank has not issued you one and why you are not "eligible".
If you are not eligible then try opening a current account elsewhere, then if successful either use this as a "second" account or switch banks, I mean why stay loyal to Lloyds if another bank can offer you what you need?
If you have direct debits you will find the new bank will switch them for you too.
Good luck.0 -
Lloyds see a Chequebook as a 'Credit Product' and this depends on the internal Credit Score they have on you - I have the same problem, they won't give me a Chequebook either.. It's not life or death that I get one it's just handy when you have got to pay for school trips etc than money.
The good side with Lloyds is if you have a Classic account you have the Offline Debit card.
The only bank that I know of so far that will give you a chequebook straight away as long as you qualify for the Current Plus or Advantage Gold account is NatWest - BUT, unless you have got quite a good credit score they will give you the Blue Visa Debit Card (Full Auth) to start will and then it's up to your internal score if they will upgrade this later on.David
£1 of debt is too much for me!0
