Furniture village, what can I ask for?

No, because under a hire purchase agreement, title of the goods remains with the lender, until the debt is paid.
That's kind of my point. My comment probably wasn't well phrased. This guy returned the item, i.e. no longer had it, but still had to pay the whole sum to the finance company!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Fv are happy to refund all the money we have paid but I don't see how that helps, basically they have caused us 7 months of hassle and upset and if we get a refund we are back to where we started.0

It helps because you're not out of pocket, and can go and buy elsewhere, from a competent retailer.
Can you assign a monetary value to your "hassle and upset"? That's the amount of compensation you are entitled to. They may give you a discount on another purchase, but that's simply their goodwill - you are not entitled to it.0 -

Not if done under section seventy-five.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
We have decided to reorder the same suite after being offered a further £200 credit making a total of £425 off. They have suspended all payments to the finance company until we receive and are happy with the new suite.
Hopefully 3rd time lucky.0 -

That's reasonable. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
