Industrial sewing needle found in mattress...

so, six months ago i bought a mattress from tesco, and last week found sewing needle had worked its way out of the mattress and was sitting under the bottom sheet. 2.6inches, covered in rust, grease and paint. Lovely.

Given how dangerous this could have been (i could have jumped in bed and it gone into my spine!) is there anything i should be aware of? Rights-wise?

Im worried that as it took so long to work its way out of the mattress that they may dismiss it! I sent a letter to them, with pictures, and copied in trading standards...hopefully i will get a response soon, but i'd like to be prepared!

any help would be appreciated :)

No, luckily i live alone, but this is it - its the "what if" scenario! If i didnt live alone, and someone was sleeping the other side of the bed it definitely would have caused an injury. Luckily by the time i discovered it it was lying horizontal on top of the mattress.

It didn't cause an injury, so move on :)
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

Have you complained to Tesco, or the manufacturer?

How did you manage to miss the part when the OP said she "sent a letter to them with pictures"? :)

'What if' scenarios dont count because they didnt happen. You stick the absolute FACTS of what did happen then people will address your problem nicely.

What if scenarios generally get the pi55 ripped out of them

I think the previous poster wants to know who "them" is.

Disagree, seems silly not to bring it the retailer or manufacturers attenion.

And I think anyone who didn't interpret "them" in this context as Tesco requires more spoon-feeding of information than is generally required. :)

She's already done that, hence now it's time to move on :)
