3 denying cashback referral claim

In December, I used the link on the 3 website to refer a friend as my mother wanted a mobile phone contract and I'm already a pay monthly customer with them.
My mother received the referral email (of which we still have copies), rang the number on it, told them she was ringing under the refer a friend scheme and gave them my details and mobile number. She was told we could have £30 credit each in March/April time, three months into her contract.
Nothing arrived and now both myself and my mother have been in touch with 3 and they say there is no record of this on their system. They say that it is an automated credit so it's possible my details were entered incorrectly or incompletely but the bottom line is that they can't see the referral on their system so are refusing to give us the credit.
I am very annoyed but having spoken to three advisors in total now, they all say the same thing: 'We have no record of it so tough luck'.
What should my next step be?
