Cash Converters Have Lost My Stuff :(

hi all
Im after some advise. Me and my fiancee put sum blu rays and dvd box sets in cash converters and i went to pay and get them back earlier this week and they cant find any of them...They keep fobbing me off sayin theyre going to do a stock check as it will def. be somewhere in their stock room its just with £40,000 worth of stuff to go through it may take a while. Ive had to pay an extension fee to keep the stuff in again even though i dont know if its really there.... I had to put the stuff in at the time as ive recently changed jobs and needed the money at the time. I know theyre only dvds but one box set was the only fools and horses giant box set. Im really angry and upset does anyone know what action i can take next as im just constantly waiting for them to ring me even when i called and spoke to the manager he doesnt seem to care xx

Why did they ask you to pay an extension if you went in to pay to retrieve your items and they couldn't find them?

They dis the same to me. I'd lost the paperwork and went in store to ask what the date was that I had to have bought the items back from them by. They told me, and when I went in, a few days before I needed to, to retrieve my items, thy ha sold them. They sold two DSLR's and an iBook G4. I was mad. Complained to the management, who said tough. Apparently the date they gave me over the phone was incorrect and it was due 3 days previously. They also claimed that they logged all calls, an had no record of a call from myself.
I complained to the area manager who said the same. I was really !!!!ed off. Especially when I foun out the items had been sold before the contract had expired, too.

You should have the extension fee returned if the reason they could not provide the goods was their fault. Check the terms and conditions on your receipt - do they owe you replacement goods, or just to write off the loan amount?

No theyre replacing all the goods, i only got 1/4 of how much they cost brand new n he said they will replace them all brand new. Does any one can i get the police involved in this coz in theory its theft someone has stolen my stuff and as its still not been replace as yet surely i can try n get some kind of compensation for all this??? i dont really no where to start n dont wna waste police time if they cant actually do anything???

Bearing in mind this company just lost your items then charged you a extension fee (which you paid..) whilst they found them i would be amazed if you get any sort of compensation, the police will just see it as a civil matter please don't waste their time, the items are lost not stolen.

ok thanks....by the way they havnt found them the manager said they have just disappeared so he is going to have to go out and buy all new ones as replacements. Meaning a member of staff has nicked them.... will never be goin into a cash converters again!!

If they are replacing new for old, as long as you're getting the same spec, it seems like a good remedy for the problem. But I would insist that you should be refunded the extension fee - you shouln't have needed to pay that.
