Alamo car hire - extra charges

Options
can anyone tell me what the extra charges, fees, taxes etc will be if I rent with Alamo, through alamo.co.uk ? I'm picking up in San Francisco downtown and dropping off at the airport.

The terms and conditions for a "Fully INC" rental state:
"Unless otherwise stated, taxes, including VLF taxes in California, other governmentally authorised or imposed surcharges, concession recoupment fees, airport & facility fees and optional items (such as CDW Waiver Savers, fuel, additional driver fee and drop charges) are extra."

I've sent an email to Alamo asking what the fees and taxes will be locally but after 6 replies and counter replies they say only the local office can tell me.

I'd go with someone else but they all have similarly ambiguos terms and conditions.

thanks,

Glen

if you book via the co.uk site its all inc

having said that they will try hard to sell you sat nav , and all sorts of extra cover that you dont really need , pre paid will include insurance and breakdown cover

when they ask give them a firm a NO and then before you sign check what you are signing for , it should read 0.00 or prepaid , any extras on there ask them to remove it as you only want whats prepaid

some are really pushy and ive had them add it on anyway after i refused , they do it knowing you are tired and confused

depending on what you booked you might be given the option to pre purchase the fuel ..its up to you on that one

The Alamo "Fully Inclusive" isn't fully inclusive - local taxes and a fuel charge will be added, but Alamo UK don't know/don't want to tell you what they are.

It may be worth upgrading to their "Gold" package as this includes Airport fees and local taxes + full tank of fuel.

For anyone that's interested Alamo tell me that the number of the office in Bush St, San Francisco is 001 888 826 6893

ive used them before and never had any extra charges

are you sure its not worded taxes may apply?

fuel may be offered if its not already in the deal , google for local fuel prices before you go , they will say what theyre charging so thats up to you

anything else is optional upgrades for a bigger car or add ons

or go with carhire3000 or netflights , theyre all inc and ive used them too
  • We booked the Gold package that gpu2 mentions and didn't encounter any extra charges. We were just told to bring it back as near to empty as we could. They did push the sat nav when we picked the car up, but we didn't mind as we wanted one anyway.
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!
