NS&I certificates

I am not sure how I can fund the certificate as its a lot of cash, can I do some sort of transfer from my account to it at no cost
Their T&C for index linked certificates state that for applications by internet or phone you have to use a debit card.
Applications by post have to be accompanied by a cheque.0 -
The question is what you think inflation is going to do over the next year which is the minimum you need to keep the certificates. The good thing is that that value is then locked in.
I think there is still inflation pressure due to the fall in sterling and foreign manufacturing savings which will get worse if QA starts up again. There is deflation pressure due to the lack of funds and decreasing income so take your pick.
Doesn't have to to be all of nothing - I started off with £100 pounds to set up the account and get a holders number and I think it's worth doing that to clear the admin and make it easier in future.0 -

How long does it take from an online application to receiving your holders number?
I am intending to put a larger amount into ILSCs shortly, but won't have access to the funds for another 10 days or so. Is it worth making an application for £100 now to speed things up once the larger sum is available to me?
I don't currently hold any savings certificates, so don't have a holders number, although I have previously held premium bonds in my name and at my current address, so don't know if this will make it less likely that I will have to submit proof of identity as part of the initial application?0 -
You don't need to speed things up. If you apply on line when you get your money, it will be invested from the day you apply. The paperwork will take time but meanwhile you are earning.0

If you apply for £100 now you will not be able to apply for more until you get your holder's number, so it is better to wait and apply for the full amount online using a debit card. As le loup says, the start date for online applications is the actual application date, so even if you do need to provide ID it will not delay your investment.0

I applied on Friday and paid by debt card, money has been taken out of my account today
They told me they might ask for ID for security0 -
Apologies for bumping an old thread, however is anyone else having issues accessing the NS&I Interest Calculator for this product? It appears to have vanished from their website.0

They updated the calc with RPI figures on May 22nd, and in the process appear to have managed to remove it from the website....call 0500 007 007 for a valuation.
