I'll nip over and send her a message, but then I must get my things together diary, power leads, phone charger, dongle, etc and get to bed as I have to get up early in the morning
So night night all - sleep well ....... even if your sheets haven't been ironed ......... I can confirm that non-ironed sheets give you just as good a nights sleep as those lovingly ironed for youMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

I rang up HSBC who my account is with and they said it is the other banks fault ING's. Oh great. I will ring up ING direct tomorrow. I hope they can sort it out! Yuk, £25 down the pan for nothing. Do you think that ING can help me?savingwannabe wrote: »ooh it might have been when i sent off that cheque and forgot to date it. Then it is my fault but £25 is a bit harsh!!! especially when the money was in my account. What would you do?You shouldn't get charged for not putting the date on a cheque hun - the other bank should not have cashed it without a date
Best check with them tomorrow and see what they say
banks will cash cheques as long as there is an amount and a signature. and payable to. In the good old days you could give someone a post dated cheque and it would not be paid until that date. It does not apply anymore, they just put it through regardless.
That is not why you would have been charged.
A direct debit on the wrong account? sounds like they may have tried to get money from your account they were not entitled to?
as to bank charges :rotfl::rotfl: they are all ridiculous! £25 for sending a letter to say you were overdrawn by 1p......0 -
Of course you are right Aesop, the banks hardly check anything these days. When I was a golf club secretary, they bounced a checue when there was plenty ont he bank, coz they had put it to the wrong account and the signatories did not match. When I spoke to them, they confirmed that they only checked signature and details if cheque was over £4000 which this one was. However, in this case, they should have checked which account they were putting it into first
I am safely and comfortably seated on my train North, just waiting for them to take my breakfast order. It is a lovely bright sunny day after yesterday afternoon's downpours - hope it stays like that but my Sis says that rain is forecast up there this afternoon
Hope everyone has a good day :j :jMr 3Dogs 3-7-12
