froogs, obviously you don't want to change supplier, if you are thinking of moving, but can you contact BG and check you are on the cheapest tariff?

I called them when I was getting behind with payments and turned out there were cheaper tariffs they don't publicise!

also check online tariffs. not getting bills sent out to you, reduces their admin costs, so you can save money, opting for direct debit, gives you a discount.

can you overpay anything, or can you make small payments to them throughout the month? to help pay off your bill? contact them and tell them you are struggling. it helps in the long run if it is on record.

and I am a bad mum, DS gets bathed 2/3 times a week. mostly because by the time we get home from nursery and work, had dinner, no time for bath, bed and stories.

Your not a bad Mum Aesop, your doing the best thing by not over washing him, when I started with eczma doc asked how often I was having a bath, when told everyday 'cause I work in a hot + mucky factoy, he told me it was the worse think I could do and to take it down to every other day and have a good wash the other day and I will admit it did help calm the eczma down.
    £71.93/ £180.00
  • I'm on the online tariff Aesop, it's meant to be the cheapest but thanks for the tip off, well worth a call to see if they'll change us to a lower one.

We're adding extra payments to the tally all the time. It's comes from the winter usage. This house goes through a stupid amount of gas in the winter. It's all down the thermostatic radiators apparently. Each radiator has it's own thermostat which detects the cold so that 9 different radiators all clicking on and off all the time - each time setting the boiler away. We've asked the landlord to part with £100 to get a room thermostat installed so the boiler will only kick in when the room thermostat detects the radiators need to go on. He's said no so that something we will have to look into doing and paying for... if we have to stay here.

Thanks for your tips Aesop. We do paperless and direct debit so I think that's a saving and I input all my readings monthly so there'll never be a shock we just need to concentrate on paying last winters amount off.

Very frugal. Have you ever made popcorn at home?

Heat some oil in a pan. When oil is hot, turn heat on high and add popcorn till it covers base of pan, when you start to hear popping (in a few minutes) put lid on pan and turn heat down. Add sugar and butter or syrup to pop corn or salt if you prefer. Cost for a bag of popcorn (which makes enough for a whole year) is about a pound in any supermarket even cheaper if you go to an ethnic one.

Yay what are you going to see?

  • Oh brilliant! Snacks ahoy for my two then. They would love honey on theirs (me? golden syrup haha)

We're going to see a mindless easy watching comedy, The Inbetweeners. It was a series on the TV that used to have me howling so going to switch off for an hour or so and hopefully laugh :D
